III. Performance Testing

Hydrostatic Head Test

Simulating how rain falls on the fabric, this test uses a spray tester to spray water onto the fabric. The level of wetting on the fabric surface is then graded. It is usually rated on a 5-point scale, with 5 being the best result.

Moisture Vapor Transmission Rate (MVTR) Test
For waterproof fabrics that also require breathability, this test measures the amount of moisture vapor that passes through a unit area of the fabric over a specific period. A higher value indicates better breathability.
